The French Foreign Legion prides itself on being the toughest fighting corps in the world, says Air Mail. “Also having the finest cuisine.” Soldiers receive 3 meals a day, packed into a box by robots. Troops choose from 14 menus, including tuna rillettes and chicken tagine, liver pâté and rabbit sauté, and deer terrine and cassoulet, designed by the 500 chefs they train up each year. The rations are so good that in Afghanistan in 2010, 1 portion could be traded for 5 portions of US GI chow.
