So here’s my best advice on fiction #writing:
Write a lot.
Read a lot.
Repeat.
Ignore the “rules.” Experiment and play with language. Be silly and serious and melodramatic and stoic, all at the same time.
Think about craft. Think about story. Think about what drives you to create with words. Never stop experimenting. Never stop learning. Find joy in your art, because that joy is the one thing that’s under your control.
Getting published doesn’t make you a writer. Writing makes you a writer. Only you can take that away from yourself.
