#WritingWonders Day 14: What kinds of character arcs do you like writing?
All of my MC’s come from “broken” families. Bethany’s mom is gone for reasons she doesn’t yet know and her dad is struggling to take care of her. Liesel’s mom won’t even acknowledge her dad’s existence. Dorothea’s parents are both missing and she’s struggling to take care of her little sister. Amalyn’s parents are alive, but she wants nothing to do with them because she feels they both betrayed her.
So I guess I tend to write arcs that involve coming to terms with difficult family situations, reuniting with family, or maybe just learning the truth about them. I don’t consciously aim for this type of story, but it keeps popping up. I guess I’m just writing what I know, or maybe trying to work through my own issues.
