don't get me wrong. i'm able to record and mix audio on a Linux machine, and i'm able to edit and render video. but it goes weird in random places.
"hm, i'm having audio dropouts"
"hm, this plugin/app is confused with 2X GUi scaling for 4K monitors so it's unusable"
"oh, it crashed"
"this is rendering 4X as slow as it did on my MacBook Pro, which had a slower CPU and GPU"
in Norwegian, we call it "barnesykdommer" - literally "child diseases" but English has "growing pains" which is closer in tone - kids have various weaknesses because they're still young and haven't been battle hardened yet.
the landscape for content creation on Linux still feels young. not quite as young as it was 10 years ago when i last gave it a go. it has grown since then. but in the same time window, entirely new commercial offerings have appeared and matured.
