For what its worth, you may want to raise with Apple that Guideline 3.1.1 says:
- If you want to have payments to ‘unlock features or functionality’ within your app then you “MUST” use in-app purchases. Damus lightening payments do not ‘unlock features or functionality’. So that doesn’t apply.
- The section that deals with tips says that apps “MAY” use in-app purchases for tips. It doesn’t say they “Must” use in-app purchases for tips. In my view, their statement in the email to you that “tips” associated with receiving content from digital content creators “MUST” use in-app purchases is not what their guidelines actually say.
