I've pretty much done that, though my mom's was a bang followed by nothing. Maybe she quit me first, but when I got no text, call, card on my birthday a month after our last confrontation (from someone who never ever forgot anyone's b-day), it was clear we were on the outs for good.

It's been almost 4 years since we've talked, and honestly, it feels like a bit of a pressure valve's been released. I feel worse about the fact that I DON'T feel worse about our estrangement and not talking. Years of little frustrations built up, and we just couldn't communicate anymore. When the screaming matches happen more often than good and even mediocre convo, it's time to make a real lasting change.
