But because email is critical to business operations, organizations worry that stricter enforcement will result in lost messages, especially because DMARC is not necessarily an easy technology to implement and maintain.
"The fear is, especially if you are a company who depends on leads via email, is that you're going to miss messages from interested parties — from customers and potential customers — if you start doing [strict enforcement]," Kelly Molloy says, adding: "A lot of companies are being conservative and are not going farther than they really need to ... because it does take resources."
