If the film has a failing, it’s simply that it goes on a bit long. The earlier portions of the protagonist’s barely-scraping-by survival struggle were a little tedious for my tastes. But as the film progressed, it did feel like those earlier slow bits helped set the tone and the stakes of sheer survival in this bleak white wilderness. So I can understand why they were included.
