I believe there are 16-bit wide ram ic's out there with dual chip selects that would be suitable for that configuration too, or just dual 8-bit. For 16-bit systems you do want dual chip selects on the pinout at least, even if the module uses something different. If you have an extra pin then maybe one for controlling a refresh signal on PSRAM's
