Trans folks - or npub1gmx4vz0z4waf3ff40j7vdy7stdn4c0gne6lkd0pwtae46lzph4mqajatcq (npub1gmx…atcq) - is there a link between feelings/fantasies of transness and ADHD?
Thanks to the tireless work of Gabor Mate, I know there is a definite link between adult ADHD and substance abuse. Which is my next question: are trans folks more likely to have unhealthy coping mechanisms, such as problems with drugs or alcohol. Or an unhealthy/overactive relationship with porn?
Asking for a friend, (of course) who also happens to be naggingly persistent when it comes to their overwhelming fantasies of transness when combined with porn and street stimulants, which goes back to early childhood when my friend was on Ritalin and constantly scolded when they were caught dressing up in their sister's clothes. (stays at mental hospitals were also frequent, but that was for a myriad of behaviors.)
Any advice you could give my "friend" would be appreciated, although this friend knows they would never feel comfortable actually transitioning because they do not feel their assigned sex/gender at birth was incorrect, they just wish they could switch back and forth like the character Raven/Mystique in the X-Men franchise into a completely different body because while they are confident they are quite attractive as a male, they know they would make a pretty fugly girl and that is simply unacceptable to them.
