I have always lived life on my own terms, taking control of my path. I work hard and play hard, finding joy while managing whatever resources I have. Over the years, I devoted myself to working for bosses, professors, priests, and senseis, striving to build trust and prove my worth. However, when my efforts weren’t appreciated, I made the difficult decision to leave. Each time, I had to start over, climbing from the bottom to the top, paying the price for staying true to myself.
I have never compromised my values, truth, or passion in my pursuit to become exceptional in my field. Every time I refused to follow someone’s misguided ideas, chaos ensued. Some did everything in their power to block my success. I didn’t let it faze me. Even when I lost everything, I knew how to rebuild. It took me ten years, at a minimum, to restart and rise again. Despite the pain, I never blamed anyone. In the end, I realized that every hardship became a valuable experience.
Still, the journey was brutally lonely and difficult. I faced failure and rejection daily, often from the very people I hoped to work with. Yet, I kept searching for genuine, trustworthy individuals to collaborate with. Until I found them, I focused on moving forward. I encouraged my husband to adopt the same mindset: never work with people who lack good character. Never sacrifice your integrity for others. Instead, find those who align with your values.
One essential lesson I’ve learned is the importance of distinguishing between self-sabotage and self-control. Kendo taught me this. Losing is often the best teacher, and when you persevere, the rewards will eventually come. So, to anyone reading this: keep going. The road may be long and lonely, but the destination is worth it. Stay true to yourself, and you will succeed. Real success is freedom from everything! Be happy.
