I have had similar experiences using them for looking up code at my work.
So the crash course is that google embraced using AI to auto correct and guess "what you really meant". And also prefers serving AI generated pages or shopping experiences over information.
I'd recommend swapping to Bing or another search till google search gets their heads straight again. (assuming they ever do).
Sadly most of the other searches are not as good. But google is self-nuked at this time.
