"Facebook is listening via your phone's mic to serve ads" is a wild conspiracy, despite it not being technically possible.

Problem is one of bias. Age & location makes you likely to want certain items. Talking about it increases likelihood to observe the ads. And we don't count past conversations that didn't corelate w/ ads.
