Did anyone try to plug a mobile phone to a small solar panel? Could it work for months or years?

In case you are curious: I have a few "old" android mobile devices at home that I want to reuse and I was thinking to plug a small solar panel to one of these mobiles, and then use it as 4G hotspot for a very rural area.

This should work, right? Or would the mobile consume more energy than it would get from the solar panel?
