Lament for Fiat Currency, and Hope in Bitcoin
O paper throne, O fiat crown,
Once mighty, now you’re falling down—
A king dethroned, a waning star,
Bound not to earth, but drifting far.
Once anchored to the ore and stone,
In silver veins, in gold’s cold bone,
You left the ground, you left our trust,
Now spun from air and propped by dust.
With ink and debt, they shaped your worth,
Untethered you from soil and earth.
What once was fair, what once was real—
Dissolved in banks' elusive wheel.
But see, a spark, a code-bound light,
An ember lit in endless night.
Where ledgers fail and borders fall,
A hope remains for one and all.
In Bitcoin’s chain, each block is sealed,
In proof-of-work, a truth revealed;
No central hands to print and play,
No shadows where the value sways.
O fiat dream, your time is done—
In Bitcoin’s rise, a newer sun.
Not minted lies, but math’s pure grace,
A store of worth no hand can trace.
So let us mourn, and yet believe—
In something more than they conceived:
A wealth unbound from whims of men,
A ledger true, unbroken, then.
Farewell, old fiat, fading fast,
Your kingdom slips, your shadow’s cast.
A hope remains, a harder coin—
In code we trust, as blocks rejoin.
