Microsoft has set completely arbitrary hardware restrictions for upgrading to Windows 11 and could provide a viable upgrade path for Windows 10 users to upgrade in place to Windows 11. They're choosing not to for little other apparent reason than to generate hardware churn to boost PC sales.
