I participated in a lot of the local round dances and solidarity marches, but did not live at the LandBack camp. My health was not good, so I brought them supplies and such. A friend of mine was one of the organizers of the camp, and she experienced awful harassment. She ended up moving far away to a remote community afterwards.

And at the 1492 LandBack Lane camp, cops shot baton rounds at the women in order to elicit a reaction from the men. The cops filmed the men running after the squad cars, and suddenly there were articles talking about how the Indigenous people were making unprovoked attacks on the cops. One of my friends was being shot at. She messaged me as it was happening.

And years ago, I had a Black friend whose white mother died. He found out about her death when cops came to his door accusing him of her murder. She'd died of natural causes. Cops were always giving him a hard time for nothing at all, but to accuse him of murdering his mother takes the cake.

I don't think most white folks have an inkling at just how deeply rooted the racism is here.
