I think it is a reasonable concern. I do believe it can be determined if a UTXO went through a coin join, mixer.
So, IMO, it might be wise not to mix your entire stack, particularly if you are planning to sell at some point using a US based exchange.
On the other hand, I feel like we need to quit asking for permission and start actively taking some of our freedoms back. The freedom to transact seems so basic. Taxing us to death every time we send a bitcoin transaction is government over reach.
If all of us simply started using bitcoin and created circular economies of scale on the main chain and lightning, the government would have no choice but to accept our decision to use bitcoin as money.
For me, I never plan to send ANY of my bitcoin to an exchange. If I need a good or service, I will try to find somebody willing to allow me to purchase that for bitcoin. The other option would be to sell bitcon peer to peer.
None the less, I think mixing the entire stack *could potentially* create a problem, but then again, its time to quit asking to be free.
