#mozilla are doing a bunch of dumb shit. And so in a desperate attempt to lie to myself that the world is not fucked on every possible level I decided to try #vivaldi. I've been using it as my main and only browser for about a month now. It's not bad. Honestly in terms of customizability and functionality it might actually be better than firefox.
But the chromium base is inevitable. I was under the wrong impression initially that the devs are working on keeping support for mv2 extensions. However it seems that's not the case and when chromium finally kills off mv2 it will go into vivaldi as well. So I decided to try using it without uBlock, since there was a lot of talk about how you don't need it, because there's already this awesome builtin adblocking.
And yes... There's builtin adblocking. It's definitely much better than using chrome or ff without an adblocker. But it's still far behind what uBlock can do.
So the choice is kind of between the undoubtedly better customizability of vivaldi and the possibility to at least do some work on a firefox to get more adequate adblocking... I really like vivaldi, so I'm sort of sad that I'm pretty certain I'm not gonna stay with it.
