I think I just figured out why my toast is always lighter than the dial would indicate. The designers assumed that I would hear the 'ding' and saunter casually from another room giving time for browning perfection.
A hypothesis which completely fails when I hover over the toaster oven like a demented hummingbird craving that next sweet, sweet nectar fix.
