Artists put out a "Statement on AI training":
“The unlicensed use of creative works for training generative AI is a major, unjust threat to the livelihoods of the people behind those works, and must not be permitted.”
That's it. It's probably meant to be simple and easy to get behind.
But I'm not sure that the exclusive focus on licensing is really a winning strategy. It's easy to imagine scenarios where licensed use is also a threat, given that most artists do not control the rights to their own works.
