This was made with a Sinar P 4x5 view camera and the BetterLight scanning digital back. Scanning digital backs were the state of the art for large format digital capture until about 15 years ago, when regular rectangular digital sensors started to be made in larger sizes. Scanning backs had a single column of sensor pixels that was moved across the image one row at a time with a stepper motor. It took about two minutes per capture. And don't move!
