Tony Stoddard posted this excellent photo on #Flickr today of a kōtare/NZ kingfisher that he rescued yesterday from two lanes of speeding car traffic after it had been hit by a car.
Tony reports that luckily, after 2.5 hours, the bird had perked up and was ready to be released.
