So numerous people have recommended the TV show "The Curse" to me. All I'm told is that it's not a scary show, it's a black comedy drama type thing, and has to do with gentrification. Safdie brothers. So I torrented "The Curse" S01. We start watching the show, it's fine. It's a British comedy set in the 1980s. Which OK, no one mentioned British, and there's no obvious gentrification theme, but the opening pretty firmly establishes we are in class war 1980s London and this a story about poor people trying to get by. No one in the cast is famous. That could be Safdie bros for all I know.

The plot is a group of dunces who accidentally steal a lot of gold and the titular Curse refers to the fact that they are all doomed (to presumably die) as a result of trying to deal with this gold while being hapless and funny Brits. The tone is a little bit sillier than I expected, but just a smidge. It's still pretty funny. And it's fine, it grows on us but it doesn't quite make sense why everyone was recommending this show to me... I don't quite get it.

Finally today I notice a toot about The Curse with an image and plot description that alerts to me the fact that there are two concurrent shows, one American and one British that are completely different and have nothing to do with one another.
