That’s certainly a viewpoint… I’m in the other camp on this at the moment, although I do see them misused quite a lot (they’re not a security feature, for example!) I find them convenient for repeatable deployments (and to get equivalent setups for local and live deployments). Why do you hate them? (Genuine question.)
