Fedora. Why not Ubuntu- first Ubuntu is bloated and gets slow. Second, the snaps issue, its not FOSS but they force it on you and that irritates the hell out of me. Only bonus is the large repository. From a personal perspective, I've seen Ubuntu just get to the point of non usability after a certain point of upgrades. Why Fedora- Fedora works well, has a semi rolling release so easier to keep up to date. If you are new to Linux, you just have to follow the installation wiki to make sure you add the non free drivers. More work on the front end but better long term. I know there is a lot of back and forth on this one but many feel the security is better with Fedora as well. Since Ubuntu is in bed with Amazon, I'd guess privacy is better as well, even if you turn off the ability for them to collect data.
