Almost every story about Chicago’s pension crisis doesn’t mention that the city’s public sector workers aren’t enrolled in Social Security.
They omit this fact either b/c the authors don’t know it or they want to make the city’s progressive Black mayor look profligate (meanwhile, incompetent budget crisis-creating pols like Paul Vallas get framed as smart “reformers”).
