Expansion on Incan Empire: Technically, Quechua *predates* the Incans. They were part of the four peoples who made up said empire, after unifying following a series of truly horrific wars and plagues.
The Incan name, "Tawantinsuyu" is Quechuan for "Region of the Four", or similar.
We don't 100% understand how the Incan Empire formed, but it was the Spanish invasion that certainly destroyed it.
