Like I said earlier, this Democratic obsession with moving right ("to the center") and working with Republicans is entirely about the fact Republicans are almost exclusively white. These white Democrats would rather suck up to racists and bigots -- with whom they don't necessarily disagree, mind you -- and try in vain to build coalitions with THEM than work with "those people" to their left who ask for social and economic justice.
