I'm not sure what to make of it yet either. It's complicated and the incentives for self-hosting are unclear. It won't have the problem of a new server not having old posts. But I'm not sure why we even need the PDS servers at all when daddy BGS exists. Seems like you should be able to go from BGS direct to client. That's just centralization. People need a better reason to self-host than just a passion for decentralized tech. This is a criticism of Nostr too, but at least Nostr is simple, and I can envision solutions on Nostr.
