You might have seen *Privacy Not Included from the Mozilla Foundation rating privacy in cars recently.
They point at a legitimate issue, but their reporting is sensationalized, IMO. I worked in the car industry until two years ago, and I have some problems with this research.
They essentially seem to have read and interpreted privacy policies. The results are a survey of how paranoid and ass-covering the company legal departments are, not necessarily a survey of what the cars actually do.
