There are 40% less large shipyards that a decade ago, and most are focussed on #container ships & LNG tankers, leaving total merchant shipping tonnage forecast to only rise by 2% next year, slower than for two decades.
What we may be about to encounter is a shortage of capacity for the bulk carriers that transport #food around the global system... if so, we can expect further food #inflation & shortages given the UK's required food imports!
