I worked for an insurance company at one time. A VP took our team to lunch one day and the discussion turned to 'end of life' treatment, he schooled us on how incredibly expensive end of life treatment was and that someone just has to make the call. Twenty minutes later he was telling us that his wife's Shih Tzu dog was old and sick and how they were spending thousands to keep it alive.
