The brother getting shot at the end by the thug is supposed meant to represent the cycle of violence and be the direct equivalent to what Derek does at the beginning when he kills the black guy
There's a big problem with this interpretation though, when Derek killed the black dude they were destroying his truck and attempting to pick the lock to his home to break in.
What triggered the thug to kill his brother was literally just the brother looking him in the eyes twice. That's it. He made eye contact.
The more logical interpretation is that the racists were correct from the beginning and blacks are violent and irrational and even if you choose not to be racist that fact doesn't change. The moral of the movie is that the racists were right all along.
Hell, during one of Derek's rants he states that two out of three black men are violent criminals on average and over the course of the film there are only two good black people. Somehow meeting two nice black guys is supposed to completely change his worldview? Even after his brother gets murdered? I don't buy it.
Now I get why this movie is popular among redpillers it's definitely not an anti-racism film at all lmao. Apparently the original ending was supposed to be a shot of Derek's sink full of hair as the camera pans up and he looks at all of nazi tattoos with pride again.
