After a decade of faiures to create a decentralized internet money, and then mathematical proof (late 90's as i recall) you couldn't solve the byzantine general problem, they lost the momentum and gave up. When Satoshi presented bitcoin and solved a slightly different version, they mostly remained negative. Sad to see.
