I typically move 2 m sats to cold storage at a time. I had many utxos so I combined them into 1 bigger utxo.

I think your fear is having stranded sats where it makes little/ no economic sense to transact on chain.

1m is plenty. but you may not want 17 1m utxos. A transaction with 17 utxos will likely cost you more in fees than 1 utxo with 17m sats.

So eventually you would consolidate them.
