I'm also not sure if i3 is the right move for a laptop. I have a default Fedora workstation installation with just GNOME and it mostly feels okay. It would be really nice if I could have gesture and swiping based commands. Example, mod+{three finger swipe up) to tile a window in some layout, or mod+(swipe right) to move workspaces and such. Maybe I should try a floating window manager. Could use Hikari now that Wayland is viable for a device I own.
