My latest pet hate:
People who are credentialed experts in one field are not necessarily experts in any other field.
I've known Ph.D. math geniuses that couldn't figure out how to clock in at a job.
Unless they can demonstrate actual expertise, anything they say on any other topic is just a fucking opinion, and shouldn't be given more weight than any other opinion.
(Polymaths often provide evidence for their multiple areas of expertise. They don't insist we "take their word for it.")
