In Log Horizon there's a boy who finds fulfilment in life finally being able to properly protect his sister and walk, as in the old world she always was the one that had to push his wheelchair around and help him do things. One of the main questions posed later on because of this (and similar situations) is whether or not turning things back to the way they were is the right thing to do, as not everyone had something worth going back home to and were better off in Elder Tale.
This is something the hyperindividualist liberal minded types in the west will never understand.
