Sometimes I struggle writing my alt, not sure of the level of details needed, what matters, etc. But a couple days ago I had an illumination. I was on here, and my girlfriend asked me what made me laugh, and she was too far from me to see my screen so I described the picture to her and she laughed too.
That's exactly what an alt is, describing the essence of a picture for your friend that cannot see your screen
