Interestingly I can link to individual tweets in the censored thread. Those can each be seen, at present, by anyone, but whenever you look at one tweet, the other two in the thread will be hidden. So here are the three tweets:

The aim is clearly that any link one sends to a tweet keeps being visible, making it difficult for people to see censorship, but to break up the sequence of a conversation. That can frighten people to remove their own posts as they noticed the missing context.
