Spent the majority of my 20s living in first a van, later a small motorhome, traveling around the great American west for the most part.
I would work for some months, usually restaurant work front and back of house - but i would do anything - landscaping, delivery, tour guide helper, all while living frugally and simply with few possessions and "responsibilities".
I had a guitar, camping gear, and books. Days off would be spent hiking out into some National Forest or another, sitting by the river, reading books and basking in the glory of creation.
I saw everything, lived in places that only the rich could afford since they all "needed" the stuff. Met interesting free spirits from everywhere. From Tahoe to Crater Lake, The Grand Canyon to Monterey Bay, Appalachian Trail to Zion National Park... Hell, when I was 23 I took my girlfriend to Kauai with our backpacks and we lived on the beaches for 6 months.
You kids and your careers... all your striving . frenetically climbing over eachother in a mad rush to get to a destination that never comes.
The anti-social media destroyed you guys. Got you competing and forever discontent - yet still feeling small forevermore.
What a fucking waste of youth. What's wrong with you? Those people you are trying to impress dont even care.
In a very short time, you will wake up - and your youth will have passed.
Are you sure its worth it?
