yes, I have called this the transactional approach to taxation, and for many is a key part of how one understand what tax is for & how it should be justified.
I think you may have seen where I laid out my argument on the more complex justification of taxation (with which I imagine you will not agree) but for me the key issue is how we understand taxation as building a society not entirely built on the transactional....
