I think the main issue is for people who are so reliant upon a screen reader that making that swap is incredibly challenging without the help of another person. Also the plan eventually is to move away from X11, so now that we basically have a deadline for that people are suddenly getting very interested in seeing this resolved ASAP. And some people are getting way too aggressive about resolving it
