IMHO Mastodon and the Fediverse in general is the solution. It is the only solution that is not tied to a single company or individual. It is based on open standards, which means there will be new solutions over time and we will be seeing further improvements moving forward.
It is important that all of us do what we can to make this a success. I really think media companies should all join with their own servers. I also believe tech companies should joins as well. We can all contribute to making this the place it can be for everyone.
I have said before the Fediverse reminds me of the early days of the Web and I do not say things like that lightly.
