If you buy a book for 0 dollars because you have Prime, then yes it only counts as indefinitely borrowed, but all books actually paid for are available to download to your PC if you want which makes me believe they wouldn't disappear from your Kindle.(I'm not deleting my account to test)
I can find zero articles or testimonials saying regular books are deleted with the account.
