May I point out to my #Sinophobic followers here on Mastodon, that this violence against protesters does not occur in #China. Yes, there are regular protests in China. No, Chinese police do not beat and abuse protesters. Yet such state-approved violence is a regular feature of any attempts at protesting Govt policies in the #US and many other Western "liberal democracies".
