They would definitely sink their own ship. Especially if they are planning on using a new ship. If you want to establish a "New World Order" you must first destroy the old one.
They're clearly forcing the break down of all major systems in order to impose the new "solutions".
To do that they must first convince people it's what they need. So they drive it all into chaos and ruin. That way the people become desperate and beg for the establishment to fix it.
