Marx defined a revolution as "the masses taking their destiny into their own hands", and called for the workers to "seize the means of production". Lenin and his followers did all they could to prevent this direct control of production by the workers, and to re-establish control by "the experts" over production as they installed their political power over the whole of Russia, as the destroyed the soviet democracy, prohibiting other worker groups and parties.
