#carstr
As a new driver I've started down the rabbit hole of thinking about buying a car. I'm Gen X so hopefully I've beaten the ego and won't be tempted in the decision by trying to look like a (insert ego preference).
So I'm in a country where there's a 100% tax on the car price so that's a good start!
Looking at bakkies and reckon narrowed down to either a Toyota Hilux or Isuzu DMax. Issue is Hilux is way overpriced for what it is in terms of them keeping up with competition, especially for the passengers, but reliable and resale value is insanely good. DMax a bit nicer in cab so wife would be happier.
Given that the 2nd hand value is almost same as new seems risky to save a little $ for a potentially damaged car.
If I was single I'd probo just buy the cheapest banger I could find, stick a subwoofer in the back, load it up with surf/kitesurf kit and be happy.
Would love a solid new car without the overpriced computer tech but that seems unlikely these days.
Thinking reliability/resale value of Hilux is gonna sway it really even compared to any type of other car.
Anyone seen the new Kia Tasman? It's an ugly beast? 😵💫
